Prof. Muluemebet Abera is a distinguished Professor of Public Health with a specialty in Reproductive Health, boasting over 30 years of experience in teaching, research, and healthcare delivery within the Ethiopian health system. Her research interests encompass public health and clinical studies, with a particular focus on reproductive health, maternal and child health, adolescent health, and health system service quality. Throughout her career, she has served as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on numerous nationally and internationally funded research projects.
Currently, Prof. Muluemebet is the director of the JU-CBMP program, a collaborative initiative with the Ministry of Health and six local universities, working across Oromia, Gambella, and Southwest Ethiopia to support the implementation of the information revolution agenda. She has coordinated significant projects funded by the Norwegian government, focusing on capacity building and academic partnerships. Additionally, she is the Chairperson of the National Research Advisory Council for the Family Planning Program at the Ministry of Health and serves as a board member of the Ethiopian Public Health Association. Her commitment to advancing public health in Ethiopia is evident through her extensive leadership and advisory roles.
